On the commercial side, the free tier accepts 15,000 characters per check, with paid tiers raising that to 350,000. Plans run FREE, PRO, PLUS, MAX, EDU, and EXPERT. There is also an API, batch file upload, and automatic PDF reports.
That is a lot of surface area, and for a free tool it is genuinely useful.
The accuracy question nobody should skip
Here is where I would slow down before trusting any number, including ours.
ZeroGPT’s homepage advertises 98.4% detection accuracy and a false positive rate below 1%. Those are vendor self-reported figures, published without a linked methodology or an independent audit you can inspect.
The independent testing cited in our own ZeroGPT AI detector review landed in the 68% to 75% range depending on content type and length. That is a wide gap from 98.4%, and it is the single most important thing on this page.
I am not going to claim our own accuracy number is beyond question either. Every detector vendor in this category publishes favorable internal figures, and you should discount all of them accordingly.
What the research consistently supports is more modest. Sadasivan et al.’s 2023 paper on the reliability of AI-text detection found that no detection method holds up reliably across adversarial conditions, and that light paraphrasing meaningfully shifts scores. Separately, Stanford HAI documented that detectors are biased against non-native English writers, flagging their work at disproportionately high rates.
Both findings apply to ZeroGPT and to Quetext. Any tool claiming to have solved this is overselling.

Which one should students use?
Different answers depending on what you are doing.
